Lorcan Hart: Some things happened.

0
Lorcan Hart has no knowledge of his parents or any blood family, nor does anyone else. He was left in the care of the orphanage in Capital City around six months of age with just his name and no other information given. Around the age of six, he and several other children from the orphanage were taken into the Cathedral to receive an education and be trained in the ways of the priesthood. Because his education was so sharply focused, Lorcan excelled and was ordained as a priest of the Light at the age of seventeen. He was also trained in the art of inscription and made a living restoring old manuscripts, illuminating Scripture, and serving as a scribe, at least when not on the battlefield.

Shortly after his ordination, Lorcan joined up with the Alliance military, and was fortunately assigned to work far from Lordaeron, enabling him to avoid becoming another victim in its fall. For the next six years, Lorcan shifted from battle to battle--notably in Alterac Valley and during the siege of Naxxramas--serving as a battlemender and unit priest.

Around seven years ago, he caught the attention of Commander Jarvis Keller, who was recruiting members for an elite force tasked with fighting on the frontlines of the war in Outland. Keller needed a battlemender to work one-on-one with one of his warriors, and Lorcan fit the bill. He joined the unit--who called themselves the Red Legion--and fought in some of the great battles of that war. Additionally, he found himself engulfed in a romance with the warrior with whom he was bonded, a man named Renault Brooks.

When the war against the Burning Crusade calmed, the Red Legion returned to Stormwind for a victory celebration, only to have said celebration interrupted by a siege at the hands of the Lich King. For many in the unit--including a death knight named Toby Oglethorpe whom Commander Keller recruited fresh out of Light's Hope in the interest of learning Scourge tactics--this war was more personal. The unit was absorbed into the Argent Crusade and participated in many of the larger battles during the Northrend campaign, leading up to and including the battle in Icecrown Citadel.

It was during this battle that the Red Legion saw their end. Facing off against a Lichess, they were unable to defend themselves, and Commander Keller used his last breaths to give the retreat order. Of the ten in this elite unit, only Lorcan survived, coming away with a cursed and diseased left leg that had to be amputated once he was free of the Citadel. The others--Commander Keller, the death knight Toby Oglethorpe, and Lorcan's bonded and lover Renault Brooks--all met a far worse fate.

By some miracle of the Light, Lorcan was able to drag himself from the Lichess' chambers to the Ashen Verdict's base, and from there, he was flown to Dalaran for emergency treatment, where he drifted in and out of consciousness for two weeks. When he finally did regain consciousness permanently, Lorcan found himself down a leg and a unit. The despondent priest was eventually taken to Hearthglen for his convalescence, where he made slow progress, feeling he had nothing left to live for and nothing to gain by returning to life.

It wasn't until two years later, after learning the world had been torn apart by a Cataclysm and finally fed up with staying inside, that Lorcan forced himself out of bed. He made the journey as far from Hearthglen as he could travel, eventually finding himself in the Gilnean seaside village of Surwich, where he came across a young man named Chadley MacGlynn. The two quickly developed a close relationship and, bolstered by this newfound lease on life, Lorcan took the steps to obtain an improved prosthetic that allowed him greater mobility. That settled, he was and is eager to return to the military lifestyle that's governed the greater part of his life.
